Press conference

On November 7th, the press conference of the 70th anniversary of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) was held. Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily Online, China Natural Resources News, China Mining News and other 55 media attended the conference. Lin Shanyuan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, introduced the work plan of the 70th anniversary of the university. Duo Hongyu, standing member of the Party Committee and director of the office of the university, read the No. 1 announcement for the 70th anniversary Yu Hailiang, standing deputy minister of party Committee publicity Department, director of news center chaired the conference.

In the Work Plan of the 70th Anniversary Celebration of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) the theme "New Beidi, New Journey" was announced for the 70th anniversary celebration and schedule of arrangements for the 70th anniversary celebration was made clear. In the Work Plan it was points out that the 70th anniversary activities should center on the fundamental task of moral education, following the principle of "grand, warm but simple".  The university summarizes its achievements and experience, strengthens its cultural heritage, carries forward the fine tradition of serving the country with geology, condenses the consensus of high-quality development, displays the development atmosphere of the new era, and marches on the new journey of the development of the university. The Work Plan also announced that there will be 70 key activities in the "seven hearts" project and four key projects about "university history, alumni, campus, and campus district".

The No. 1 announcement for the 70th Anniversary of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) pointed out that China University of Geosciences (Beijing) has a fine tradition of geological service to the country. It shoulders the glorious mission of pioneering socialist construction and have cultivated for the country more than 200,000 outstanding talents. In recent years, the university firmly grasps the opportunity of "Double First-class" construction, insisting on “writing papers on the motherland” to serve the strategic needs of the nation and has achieved a series of landmark achievements, including contribution to the construction of an ecological civilization. Yu hailiang elaborated the designing concept of the new school emblem and the 70th anniversary logo. The overall shape of the new emblem of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) is the integration of the letter U in shape of a budding bud painted in geological blue. The new emblem is made up of the core elements, the name of the university in Both Chinese and English and the date of its establishment "1952". The core elements are "geological hammer, compass, magnifying glass and earth longitude and latitude", which symbolize geology. The new emblem embodies the profound cultural heritage of the University, the innovative consciousness of openness and progress, and the heroic spirit of the Times and implies the university's commitment to embark on a new journey of reform and development.

The three logos of the 70th anniversary of the university respectively take "ground", "Beidi" and "stone" as the main body for their design, featuring distinctive features, beautiful shapes, ingenious ideas and echoes each other. They explain vividly and systematically the theme of the university's anniversary "New Beidi, New Journey".

During the question session, reporters from People's Daily Online, China Mining News, "Beidi Cradle", "Beidi College" and other media platforms raised questions on the theme of the university's celebration, alumni activities, student activities and other related cultural activities. Lin Shanyuan and Du Hongyu answered questions on behalf of the university.
